Methyl 3-hydroxybutyrate and Ethyl 3-hydroxybutyrate are 3-hydroxybutyrate derivatives. 3-hydroxybutyrate is one of the three ketone bodies produced by human fatty acid metabolism and can be used as an emergency energy source in the brain in the case of starvation. Studies have shown that 3-hydroxybutyric acid is closely related to diabetes and disorders of energy metabolism in the body.
