Product Description

β-alanine, which is soluble in water, is the only naturally occurring β-amino acid, and other β-amino acids can only be produced by synthesis. It is an isomer of α-alanine, one of the 20 amino acids that make up human proteins. β-alanine, a non-protein amino acid, can be synthesized in microorganisms, plants and insects, while mammals need to take it from the external environment.

β-alanine is widely used in pharmaceutical, food, chemical and environmental fields. First of all, many important industrial compounds such as 3-hydroxypropionic acid, poly-3-hydroxypropionate, pantothenic acid, carnosine, pamidronate and balsalazide are synthesized with β-alanine as important precursors or intermediates.

Secondly, in the food industry, β-alanine is used both as a food additive to improve the taste of food and as a nutritional supplement for athletes to improve their body functions. In addition, it can be used directly in the production of poly-beta-alanine, which is widely used in cosmetics, water purification and construction.

Beta-alanine supplementation has also been shown to have beneficial effects on exercise performance variables such as circulatory function, ventilatory threshold, and fatigue time. Because of its performance-enhancing effects and its natural occurrence in meat and fish, which are not yet classified as stimulants, β-alanine is rapidly developing worldwide as a popular sports supplement used to enhance high-intensity exercise performance.
